2nd Annual St. Jude Tournament

2 Rivers Guide Service is hosting the 2nd Annual St. Jude Bass Fishing Tournament on the Potomac River in Brunswick, MD (Campground Boat Ramp) on Saturday, February 13, 2010.

Sponsors such as Smoketown Bait & Tackle, Cabela's, WFRE 99.9, Dicks Sporting Goods and K&R Engraving helped make the event a success, this year we have added the Out Door Channel to the list of sponsors.

A big thank you to the anglers and their families that participated last year and helped us raise nearly $2,500.00, hopefully this year we can double that!

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a non-profit organization that depends on donations as no child is ever denied care or turned away because of inability to pay for treatment. One admission can cost as much as $35,000.00 - please help us save the life of a child.

MBFN JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPION

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHNNY DUARTE!!!!!!!! He won the JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP yesterday in Florida fishing YALE LAKE. He became the first youth from the Maryland Bass Federation Nation to win the title. He also competed in the CASTINGKIDS CHAMPIONSHIP and finished 5th overall in his age group. WAY TO GO JOHNNY!!!!!!!

Wanted:

Concerned MBFN Members to Attend A Public Forum on the South County Connector

As you are probably aware, there has been an on-going battle to stop a new highway that is proposed for Charles County that will cut through a large portion of the Mattawoman Creek watershed. Numerous environmental organizations, including the MBFN, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Mattawoman Creek Watershed Society, and others are doing all we can to preserve the pristine waters of our beloved Mattawoman Creek from encroaching developement.

Please make every effort to attend a public forum on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 to show your support for what can easily be described as the most productive bass factory in the entire Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The event will be held from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Business & Industry Room (#113) at the LaPlata Campus of the College of Southern Maryland, located at 8730 Mitchell Road.

It would be great to have a good showing of MBFN members to show our concern and voice our opposition to this eminent threat to Mattawoman Creek. Please wear your club shirts, jackets, hats, etc, so the public will know that we value our natural resources as much as we do our fishing!

Bass Angler Joe Kolodziejski Died

The Oct. 22 Baltimore Sun had an excellent and very detailed obituary story and a photo of Joe Kolodziejski, who was a successful bass tournament angler. I read the obituary because he had such an interesting career, but the article also mentioned his bass fishing and winning the Delaware classic. I did not know him, and Im posting this here because some anglers may have known him and fished with him.

Joseph A. "Joe K." Kolodziejski, the one-time Baltimore Department of Public Works street sweeper who became head of the department's Bureau of Solid Waste, died Sunday of a brain hemorrhage at Peninsular Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

The longtime Dundalk resident was 62.

After retiring, he moved to Salisbury, where he enjoyed bass fishing.

"In 2007, he won first place in the Delaware Bass Federation Classic," said his wife of 15 years, the former Karen Kordonski.

Glen Burnie Bass Club looking for a few more members

The PRO-FORMANCE Fishing Team is currently accepting several additional members for the 2010 season. The club is a member of the Maryland Bass Federation Nations Southern Region. We are primarily located in the Glen Burnie, MD area but have membership throughout the DC, MD, and PA region. We fish at least 10 club tournaments a year plus participate in MBFN and other tournaments. We are looking for both boaters and riders. The club welcomes anglers who want to continue to learn how to fish for bass competitively in a friendly environment. We strive to share our information so that all can succeed. Need Some Help This Friday

Sorry for the short notice, but its been difficult getting everyone available for this project:

Friday, October 23rd 10:00 AM at the Wilson Point Park ramp in Middle River we will be assisting DNR with a project involving tagging & distribution of adult bass in Middle River. I need about 6 - 8 boats to distribute the fish in the backs of creeks after they have been tagged by DNR.
I can also use a few non-boaters to help out.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED UPON COMPLETION!
